Colour at Conference

The Challenge to make something for the kitchen featuring citrus was very well supported with 44 entries. Citrus was the Primary Product to study this year and the bright colours made a very colourful display. There were aprons, casserole carriers, table runners & mats and even a recipe book. A wallhanging featuring a lemon tree was the 'Viewer's Choice'. It was made by Eileen Kenneck.

SAVE THESE DATES in 2015

Workshop weekends have been booked for 2015 at RFH on Gregory (Ruth Fairfax House, Gregory Terrace, Brisbane).

March 21 & 22 will be just when the craft show is on so combine the two while you are in Brisbane.

November 14 & 15  will be a chance to do something lovely for Christmas.

NOVEMBER 15 & 16, 2014, another workshop is booked and will probably be about stars.

JELLY ROLLS - UNROLLED

At the recent workshop held at RFH in Brisbane a variety of colourful rolls of pre-cut fabric were put on tables. Two days later these strips were forming quilt tops and were almost ready to quilt.
The beginners class was an exercise in accurate cutting and sewing whereas the advanced class was very challenging - there was quite a bit of rearranging of strips.

Everyone had their own table and there was plenty of room for ironing.
Discussion on the placing of blocks in the advanced class
Pretty colours for a new baby in the beginners class
Margaret with her sunshine coloured strips.
Hoping they have it sorted...at last
Bernie brought this magnificent quilt for show & tell.

SAVE THE WEEKEND

A workshop is planned for 7 & 8 June at Ruth Fairfax House.
Details to be posted nearer the time.

CITRUS CHALLENGE

The Piecemaker's Challenge for 2014 is to make something for the kitchen featuring citrus. This is QCWA's primary product being promoted this year. You could make a bag, runner, table mats, washing machine topper!!!! Whatever you like but it must have the fruit appliqued or fabric.
The winner will be Viewer's Choice at the State Conference to be held in Ipswich in October.

The block shown has not been done carefully enough - note the dark green leaf showing through the lemon. It needed closer trimming and the quilting is not straight around the cream square. I will have to do another one!
